The End of An Era
October 6th, 2011 by Kerry M.With Steve Jobs’ passing, the world has lost one of the great technology visionaries and innovators of all time. Steve Jobs made us think about technology as art, bringing an aesthetic to computer design that truly redefined the way many of us thought about our desktops, laptops and eventually our MP3 players, smart phones and tablets.
I’ve been an unabashed Apple fan-girl for more than two decades; our entire agency is, and always has been, Mac-based, and most of us rely on iPhones, iPods and iPads to help us do our jobs (or enjoy ourselves while we’re doing our jobs). Thanks to Steve Jobs, we use tools that are powerful, elegant and so darn simple to use that you can actually focus on what you are producing, instead of how you are producing it.
His legacy is that generations now insist that technology be cool – even sexy – as well as functional. Thank you, Steve Jobs, for that seismic shift. Rest in peace.
