As a travel writer, his name appears on the title page of over 20 travel-related books, including guides for Lonely Planet, Frommer’s and Moon Publications. In addition, Bill has written and edited for 1000 Places to See Before You Die, National Geographic, Mobil Guides, Expedia.com and GORP.com.
Bill has also written for some of the world’s leading high tech companies. He has worked with Microsoft since 1994, both as a contractor and as senior writer at Waggener Edstrom Worldwide, Microsoft’s PR agency of record. At Wagged, Bill also wrote for Alcatel, AMD, Siemens, MasterCard International, and SAP. Bill also helped ghostwrite a SAP business book published by John Wiley & Sons, Adapt or Die.
For his free-lance writing business, Semaphore Writing Studio, Bill has written for clients and publications as varied as Mentor Graphics, WebCriteria, Intel, Oregon Public Broadcasting, Willamette Week, Just Out, and catalog-king Norm Thompson.
A Montana native, Bill has an MA from the University of Kent, England, in Modern European Literature. He used his undergraduate years as an excuse to travel, attending universities in Canada, Scotland, and France before graduating from the University of Montana with a BA in English Literature.
