Melissa L.
Senior Communications Counsel
Melissa Logan is a senior communications counsel for tech B2B companies at McClenahan Bruer Communications (McBru). She works with electronics, clean tech and IT companies. Her Twitter handle is @Melissa_McBru.
Melissa started her career at Waggener Edstrom Worldwide where she helped develop and implement PR plans for four major Microsoft Windows and MSN product launches. She went on to lead the PR department at LaCie, developer of external hard drives, RAID storage and high-end LCDs. Melissa garnered positive placement for LaCie in more than 300 media outlets annually, and was commended by executive staff for helping to more than double U.S. revenue through global brand awareness. She received the honor of LaCie Employee of the Year in 2005.
Before arriving at McBru, Melissa built a communications program from the ground up for the nonprofit Start Making A Reader Today (SMART). In addition to providing strategic communications counsel to the executive team, field staff and key stakeholders, she developed a host of marketing initiatives to aid in volunteer recruitment and fundraising; secured a $25,000 grant to develop the “Readers Change History” campaign; conceived and executed the “Making Readers” mobile giving campaign in partnership with KGW NewsChannel 8 and the Portland Trail Blazers; and partnered with a local children’s theater to host the annual SMART Book Award event featuring Joey Harrington. True to Melissa’s geek roots, she also founded and chaired the Tech Team that manages SMART’s IT and web infrastructures.
She is an avid student of the natural horsemanship teachings of Buck Brannaman, Tom Dorrance and Ray Hunt, where she works with horses to develop mutual respect instead using fear or force. Melissa is a University of Oregon alumnus with a degree in public relations and a minor in political science.
